Patrick Neary Outlines ODNI Strategy
On Thursday, October 8, 2009, ATIC and the Wright Patterson MASINT Development Consortium sponsored Mr. Patrick Neary, Principal Deputy Director and Chief Strategist for ODNI. He presented an overview of the 2009 National Intelligence Strategy (NIS) to approximately 65 individuals in attendance. The NIS is the blueprint to set priorities and objectives, and guide current and future decisions on budgets, acquisitions, and operations for the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies over the next four years.
Faced with complexity and rapid change in a security landscape with nation-states, non-state actors, and transnational forces and trends presenting both challenges and opportunities to U.S. interests, Mr. Neary reviewed each of six mission objectives, highlighting how they will enable wise national security policies and support effective national security actions. He also discussed the seven enterprise objectives and how they will help deliver balanced and improving capabilities and enable the IC to operate as a single, integrated team.
