ATIC Hosts Intelligence Technology Symposium
Booz Allen Hamilton held their Intelligence Technology Symposium at ATIC on Monday, November 9, 2009. Richard Koester, Senior Associate, shared “the symposium featured a broad range of projects from Prototyping Science & Technology, Research & Development, Social Cultural Analysis, and Phase 1 Analysis highlighting that the intelligence process needs to shorten the delivery of products to match the digital battlefield.” BAH Executive Vice President and former Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, was the keynote speaker presenting Future Challenges of the Intelligence Community. “Cyber is our ‘Manhattan project’ of today, where 90% of our communications are inside a glass tube, within the global switched network.” McConnell said he believed potential adversaries have the capability through a cyber attack to bring down a power grid and that the U.S. is not prepared . He feared such a catastrophic event was possible. “We must address cyber security as a regulated entity and to accomplish that the government’s role must increase significantly.”
